Heart - Body - Mind

Back to the Body as a means to release the endless cycle of thoughts and emotions, sources of stress and suffering.

Back to the body to escape the grip of the mind.

Opening ourselves to the world of our sensations, our emotions.

Welcoming, accepting, feeling, listening, making oneself available to oneself to reconnect with the body and anchor in the here and now.

As expressed by the poet Rilke, « The human body is the first work of art.» Just like our vehicle, each individual must therefore take care of it as a true work of art.

My goal is to accompany you towards realizing your potential for well-being, both physically and mentally. To reconcile heart, body, and mind, offering the possibility of being in harmony with ourselves as well as with others.

“The yogi knows that the body is not only the temple of our soul

but also what enables us to embark on the inner journey,

towards our essence...

This is why the body is the laboratory of life; it is the child of the soul.”

B. K. S. Iyengar

Reconnection to one's being, to one's body: the contribution of EMDR and Yoga.

Yoga and EMDR as paths to listen to the body and free the mind.

Every emotional shock leaves an imprint in the body. Both Yoga and EMDR therapy consider the individual as a whole, acknowledging the constant synergy between the body and mind.

Both EMDR and Yoga are techniques employed to regulate intense memories activated by a traumatic event, and also to restore a sense of confidence and commitment through the embodiment of one's own body.

Healing from trauma involves restoring a connection with the body,

finding a sense of safety in the present moment.”

Eye Movement Therapy

EMDR is the acronym for "Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing".

It is a psychotherapeutic method that was created in 1987 by the American psychologist and behavioral therapist Francine Shapiro, Ph.D., at the Mental Research Institute in Palo Alto, California.

She discovered a very simple way to stimulate a self-healing mechanism present in each of us.

Numerous research studies have evolved the technique, but the term EMDR has been retained even though the method is not necessarily limited to the use of eye movements alone. For example, the therapist can also use alternating tapping on both sides of the patient's body (this is what is practiced for blind patients, achieving similar results).

This neuro-emotional mechanism triggered by eye movements allows for overcoming unprocessed traumatic experiences. Traumatic sequelae can be treated even many years later.

Since 1989, the effectiveness of EMDR in the treatment of psychological traumas has been scientifically proven by numerous international research studies.

Over 2 million patients worldwide have benefited from EMDR therapy.

Numerous recognitions are now present globally. In France, EMDR was recognized by INSERM in 2004 and by the High Authority of Health in 2007. Furthermore, since 2013, the World Health Organization recommends EMDR for the treatment of psychotraumatic disorders as a first-line treatment.

Typically, in people's lives, there are between ten and twenty untreated memories that are responsible for the majority of their suffering."

Access to mnemonic networks

Two key points, according to psychiatrist Van Der Kolk, summarize the EMDR approach and its contribution in the context of post-traumatic stress syndrome:

  • EMDR induces relaxation in the mind and/or the brain, providing rapid access to loosely associated images and memories. This helps to put the traumatic experience into perspective or place it in a broader context

  • Healing from trauma is possible without verbal communication. EMDR allows for the observation of one's experiences in a new way, without the obligation of engaging in verbal exchange.

My Approach to Yoga

Letting go first

Far from any spirit of performance or competition, allow yourself to be guided in a practice of Hatha Yoga that combines movement with breath, always in mindfulness, without violence to the body or the mind.

A gentle Yoga practice where each person can experience the benefits of Yoga, connect and balance the different aspects of our physical, psychic, and emotional being, all while respecting the body and its possibilities in the present moment.

Through constant attention to our sensations, we learn to respect the limits of our body and feel them evolve over the course of the practice. By focusing on our breath, we channel our mind to be fully present in the moment.

“There is not a Yoga for all, but each must discover the Yoga for themselves.”

André Van Lysebeth.

Adaptative approach accessible to all

No need to be flexible to start practicing Yoga.

The approach I offer is accessible to everyone, regardless of age and level of practice - adults as well as teenagers, people with reduced mobility (chair yoga). I adapt each of my classes based on the student and the energy of the day.

I am committed to conveying a practice free from any spirit of performance. There is no goal or intention to achieve, and no posture is inherently "right" or "wrong"; the main attitude to adopt in the posture is "non-doing." Adjustments are offered so that each person can adapt the direction suggested by the posture.

For those who practice, it is about maintaining the humility of the posture. Each person, while staying in their breath and sensations, will let the posture unfold to reach their authorized maximum, which may not be the same for everyone.
